Architect seeks to redefine urban landscapes through innovative architecture

Ma Yansong is a prominent figure among the new generation of Chinese architects. His design concept, “Shanshui City,” focuses on bringing a sense of harmony to nature, urban spaces, and society through architecture. As the head of Beijing-based MAD Architects, Ma won the competition to redesign Paris’ Montparnasse Tower with his “Mirage” proposal, marking the first time a Chinese architect has secured such a prestigious international project. Since 2002, when he designed the “Floating Island,” Ma has continued to develop his vision through global projects.
